Goldette Shields was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the Hill District. She comes from a large family, 9 siblings, a ton of nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends. She graduated from John A. Brashear High School in 1982, where she played sports that interested her the most. Being a single mother of three sons Jerome, Tyrome and Jamahr Shields.She found herself battling to get off welfare, which was very frustrating because she always wanted more out of life.
In 2002, Goldette started playing Semi-Pro Football and won the 2002 Championship Title in the Lightweight Division in Wheeling, West Virginia’s most popular competition, “Toughman Contest”. She spent two years training in the boxing ring and playing semi-pro football on and off throughout the years. She knew it was time to take a big step, now her sons were grown.She knew she could do better for herself and her family.Goldette decided to move to Brandon, Florida. It was a decision that changed the entire course of her life. Through GOD she learned who she is and her purpose. She always wanted her own business so she started working in the boxing field under Mad Integrity Fight Sports. She became a sponge and started researching how to start my own events. It was now time for her to work hard to pursue her goals.
In 2010, Goldette went back to visit her family in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This is when she noticed the difference between her home town Pittsburgh and Brandon, Florida. It left her empty. She noticed the absence of children playing outside and all of the violence in the community. On her way back to Florida, she was so sad about the communities in Pittsburgh. It weighed so hard on her heart that it brought tears to her eyes. She knew She had to do something. She decided to follow her heart and make her dream come true. Goldette started her business SHIELDS OF FAITH. She will go back to her roots and help build them up by taking back our community to help make it safe to play outside again. There are too many empty playgrounds where there should be sounds of laughter from children running and playing. We should be hearing bouncing basketballs instead of the sounds of guns, seeing children jumping rope,running aroung playing on monkey bars, swinging on the swings, hop scotch and kick ball. SHIELDS OF FAITH LLC will be making a mark in the communities by bringing different kinds of fun events to the areas. Every event we have, we will give 30% back to the community or charity.
